EverTO Ventures ("EverTO", "we", "us", or "our") is a venture studio. We work with founders to build, launch, and fund new companies. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through everto.ca (the "Website"), why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
We keep this short because we collect very little. There are no accounts to create on this Website, nothing to buy, and no advertising trackers. Terms defined in our Terms of Service have the same meaning here.
The Website has one form: the pitch form. When you submit it, we collect what you type into it. Three fields are required, your name, your email address, and your idea, and we need the first two so that we can reply to you.
The rest of the form is optional. Those fields ask about the problem behind your idea, your background, who would pay for it, how you came across it, who else is working on it, why now, what you have already tried, where you are based, and how you see the market. Answer as few or as many as you like. Whatever you type into them is what we collect, and leaving them blank has no effect on how we read your pitch.
If you contact us directly by email instead, we collect whatever you choose to put in that email.
Please do not send us government identification numbers, financial account details, health information, or anything else you would not want sitting in an inbox. We do not need any of it to read a pitch.
We use what you send us to read your pitch, reply to you, and continue the conversation if there is one to have. That is the whole purpose.
We do not sell your information. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to data brokers. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we do not add you to a marketing list because you sent us a pitch. If we ever start a newsletter, you will have to ask for it.
We treat the substance of your pitch as confidential and we do not publish it or show it to people outside EverTO, subject to the limits described in the "Submitted Ideas" section of our Terms of Service. Please read that section before you send us something you consider sensitive. It explains, honestly, what confidentiality we can and cannot offer given that we receive pitches from many founders and work on our own projects.
Our servers keep ordinary web logs: IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested, and the time of the request. We use these to keep the Website running, diagnose faults, and defend against abuse.
We do not run third-party analytics, advertising pixels, or social media trackers on this Website. The only cookie we set is an essential one that keeps you signed in to the private area of the site, and it is set only if you have an account there. Visitors browsing the public pages are not given a cookie.
The people at EverTO who need to read your pitch in order to respond to it. Beyond that, your information reaches other parties only in these situations:
Your information is stored on servers operated by our hosting provider, which may be located outside your country, including in Canada and the United States. Those countries have their own privacy laws, and information stored there may be accessible to their authorities under those laws.
We keep pitches for as long as the conversation may still be live, and we review them periodically. Pitches we did not take forward are deleted within three years unless you ask us to delete yours sooner, or unless a law requires us to keep it longer.
We use industry standard measures to protect what you send us, including encryption in transit and access controls limiting who at EverTO can read submissions. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that information transmitted over the internet is immune from interception.
If a security breach exposes your personal information, we will notify you and any applicable regulator within seven days of discovering it, and we will tell you what happened, what was affected, and what we are doing about it.
Whatever your location, you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, or delete it. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.
Our legal basis for processing your pitch is your consent, given when you submit the form, and our legitimate interest in evaluating and responding to it (GDPR Article 6(1)(a) and 6(1)(f)). You may withdraw consent at any time. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the rights to access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU Regulation 2016/679) and the UK Data Protection Act 2018, and the right to complain to your national supervisory authority. If you are in Canada, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) applies.
This Website links to other sites we do not control. This Policy does not cover them. Read their policies before giving them anything.
We may update this Policy. The revised version takes effect when posted here, and we will change the "Last Updated" date above. If a change materially affects how we handle information you have already sent us, we will email you at the address you gave us.
